The 10 body problem
10 years is more than enough time to read at least 10 books. The problem is finding actually interesting books I would want to read. This list may change depending on whether I actually have the motivation to read all these or if I deviate from the list and find something better, but is what I would read in the next 10 years.
2025: The Three Body Problem - Liu Cixin
Sci-fi novel about a Chinese physicist who explores the strange suicides of her coworkers. She figures out that an alien civilization was behind it, asking for help as their own planet is within a unstable orbital patter between 3 suns. I personally love sci fi novels and think this one would help me with critical thinking through tough challenges similar to the 3 body problem
2026: Atomic Habits - James Clear
Relatively corny choice 💔, but I've seen it everywhere and people talk about how it helped them develop healthy habits. The book is a self help book that revolves around developing successful habits in life. At this point in college, I would probably need to work a lot harder and manage time well since its a transition into the real world.
2027: "Surely You're joking, Mr. Feynman!" - Richard Feynman
Since there's no popular book about my glorious king Carl Friedrich Gauss, I'm going with the next best thing. But seriously Richard Feynman was a brilliant physicist that was known for his curiosity and playfulness. I want to take some inspiration from him and in 2027 I'd be at the point where that information would be very crucial
2028: Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson
A novel similar to the matrix about a hacker and a courier that find a virus that infects computers and humans through future tech. As this would probably be my last year in college, I'd want to read something remotely about adapting to a harsh world, so I chose this.
2029: pride and prejudice - Jane Austin
From here I'm not going in any specific order. Everyone probably chose this book to read in the future but it is probably for a good reason. This book teaches you about self-awareness and empathy better anything else would. Being self aware is a very important skill and I think reading this book would help with that.
2030: The Lord of the rings - J.R.R Tolkien
It might be a crime that I haven't read this yet. I've seen these books everywhere but I wouldn't know the actual story or anything about it. I'd probably get addicted to these like everyone did to harry potter.
I've never really go to read a lot of Stephen King's novels, because they were so long and often times I'd steer away from his books if I had to read some for an assignment. Now that that phase is gone, I'd like to start reading his works again. This one is about a small town being trapped under an invisible and impenetrable dome. To me this would be relatively high on my reading list because the premise is so interesting.
2032: Brave New World - Aldous Huxley
For some reason this book reminds me of breaking bad with all the drugs. Its dystopian and about a world obsessed with comfort drugs. Entire premise to me sounded interesting, especially the dystopian aspect. If you look a little deeper, this book could also teach you about the cost of freedom and why comfort isn't really a great thing in some cases. I feel like there is a valuable life lesson to be learned all while reading the interesting plot in this book.
